Rather than buying the same old mass produced high street stuff this Christmas why not shop for original, affordable and contemporary gifts from independent designer-makers in the heart of Manchester’s creative Northern Quarter.
Visit the Manchester Craft & Design Centre this Saturday (26th November) from 2pm-5pm for a free, family-friendly event with Christmas cocktails, craft activities, live music and personal shoppers on hand to make sure you find that special gift.
You can purchase my work from the Designers Eclectic studio on the 1st floor.
The Craft & Design Centre will also open on Sundays in December from 11am-5pm.
I have reserved my beautiful christmas present this year from the talented Jane Dzisiewski, Designers Eclectic (Studio 21, @ManchesterCraft ). This GORGEOUS green oval resin stone is mine all mine! It has been set into a silver casing with silver ball chain and gold T bar fastening…I LOVE IT!

LUCY ELSIE HARVEY - Observer Magazine 24.7.11
A pair of Lucy’s vintage pen nib earrings made ‘The Lust List’ in today’s edition of the Observer Magazine. Alas, there wasn’t a credit in sight, other than a a link to the Artfund website where there was no sign of the earrings in question.
There is however a similar pair in the Designers Eclectic studio, and these will now be placed on a velvet cushion.
There are lots of exciting plans in store for Designers Eclectic over the coming months. We will be introducing some new makers and working on our website (long overdue). Already installed in the studio is work by Lucy Elsie Harvey, which is proving very popular.
Lucy was on the 2010 Crafts Council UK Hothouse Programme. She is currently working with this collective, on a joint exhibition of their work which will take place at Pitzhanger Manor House, Ealing - Portraits In The Making (21st Sep - 12th Nov 2011), curated by Greg Parsons. There are seventeen makers in total from different disciplines, all exploring the process of making in response to Pitzhanger Manor. They are recording their respective journeys on a blog, and you can also follow Hothouse 2010 on Facebook and Twitter.
Jane Dzisiewski from Designers Eclectic has had a very busy few months working on her jewellery showcase for Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and has been recording her progress on her blog.
As part of the KE-Las programme (Knowledge Exchange in Laser Engineering), she has been working with the engineers at Lairdside Laser Engineering Centre, learning about new techniques and processes and allowing these to inform her design development on site specific projects.
Jane’s work has been selected for both the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair and Made by Hand and she has recently been accepted into the Crafts Council UK Hothouse programme for emerging makers.
One of the founding members of Designers Eclectic, Carly Townsend has left us for pastures new. Carly will be continuing to make jewellery and we all wish her well. Contact details are as follows:-
